Rugby in the Sun.
On Sunday 08/10/2017 Percy Park hosted the 7th Northumberland and North Tyneside Friendly Rugby Festival. An event arranged by Percy Park member Glenn Forster and his team of volunteers. With over 2,300 young people taking part it is quite an undertaking and he has the thanks of Northumberland Rugby Union for taking on such an event. With the support of ‘The Protector Group’, Newcastle Falcons and volunteers from Kings Priory School in Tynemouth all was in place to ensure that the festival reached a successful conclusion at Percy Park RFC with 906 young players aged from 5 to 10 years taking part.
With all clubs from Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside taking part in this annual rugby fest, there were lots of smiling faces and some great rugby on display.
The Festival was set up to allow club coaches to meet up early in the season and work together on their development plans for their club age grade, it also give all the boys and girls an opportunity to have an early season meet and a good run around.
Glenn Forster was delighted to have The Protector Group as the Festivals sponsor this year and they were so impressed with the occasion that they have asked to partner the event again next season. The Protector group also provided medals for all participants.
Percy Park RFC once again provided a brilliant backdrop to an outstanding day.
